Scriptures concerning Fertility and Childbirth

Is it God's will for me to conceive and give birth to children?
Yes, absolutely, The first command God gave to mankind was to "be fruitful and multiply."
Genesis 1:28
Then God blessed them and said, "Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground."
Genesis 9:1
After the flood God again commanded Noah and his family and said, "Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth."
God loves children! Fertility and children were always viewed as blessings in the Bible. It is not God's will to withhold any blessing from you.
Psalm 84:11
For the LORD God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The LORD will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right.
Jesus loves infants and children!
Luke 18:15-16
Then they also brought infants to Him that He might touch them. But when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them. Jesus said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God [Luke 18:16].
Mark 10:13-16
But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, andblessed them.
Matthew 18:1-5
At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me [Matthew 18:1-5].

Children are a blessing from God!

Psalm 127:3-5
Children are a gift from the LORD; they are a reward from him. Children born to a young man are like arrows in a warrior's hands. How joyful is the man whose quiver is full of them! He will not be put to shame when he confronts his accusers at the city gates.
Psalm 113:9
He gives the childless woman a family, making her a happy mother. Praise the LORD!
Genesis 33:5
Then Esau looked at the women and children and asked, "Who are these people with you?"
"These are the children God has graciously given to me, your servant," Jacob replied.
Psalm 128:1-6
How joyful are those who fear the LORD - all who follow his ways!
You will enjoy the fruit of your labor. How joyful and prosperous you will be!
Your wife will be like a fruitful grapevine, flourishing within your home [Psalm 128:3]. Your children will be like vigorous young olive trees as they sit around your table. That is the LORD's blessing for those who fear him.

You are already blessed with fruitfulness

Because of what Jesus did for us on the Cross, all believers are blessed with the blessings of faithful Abraham. Are you married to a person of the opposite sex? Are you a born-again believer? If yes, then the blessing of fruitfulness of the womb is already available to you. All you have to do is apply faith (confidence) in God's willingness and ability to make you fruitful and most assuredly fruitfulness of the womb will be realized and appropriated to you. In addition, you are entitled to a normal childbirth free from Miscarriage [Exodus 23:26].
Galatians 3:29, Galatians 3:9
"Now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and now all the promisesGod gave to him belong to you."
Jesus says that "the thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy; I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly" [John 10:10John 8:44]. Jesus always brings life. Peter instructs the believer to resist the devil, steadfast in the faith, when he comes to devour [1 Peter 5:8].
Deuteronomy 7:14
You shall be blessed above all peoples; there shall not be a male or female barren among you or among your livestock.
Deuteronomy 28:1-24, and 11
If you fully obey the LORD your God and carefully keep all his commands that I am giving you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations of the world. You will experience all these blessings if you obey the LORD your God:
Your children and your crops will be blessed.
The LORD will give you prosperity in the land he swore to your ancestors to give you, blessing you with many children, numerous livestock, and abundant crops.
Exodus 23:26
There shall be no one miscarrying or barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days.

What can I do?

You now know God's will and your covenant rights concerning fertility. You can respond to the obstacle of infertility or miscarriage by faith and overcome God's way.

Respond to Infertility with Faith and Prayer

The Bible shows us through example how to overcome infertility problems. The remedy for infertility and/or miscarriage is by faith and prayer. You now see that it is definitely God's will for you to be fruitful in your body (fertile) so respond to the mountain of infertility with faith and the spoken word. Call those things that be not as though they were. Saturate yourself in the word until faith springs forth and you believe the word of God more than you believe your natural circumstances, your doctors diagnosis, and old wives tales. All those reports in the natural may be real but truth exists beyond what you can see, taste, hear, smell, or touch. Use your faith in God's word to appropriate his blessings, and most assuredly, soon your desire for children will be realized. Praise God!
Abraham and his wife, Sarah, received their first child when he was 100 years old and she was 90, because they exhibited faith in God's promise to them.
Genesis 15:6
And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
Romans 4:17-18
Abraham's faith did not weaken, even though he knew that he was too old to be a father at the age of one hundred and that Sarah, his wife, had never been able to have children. He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God.
Hebrews 11:11
By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised.
Rebekah conceived her first child in answer to Isaac's prayers.
Genesis 25:21
Isaac pleaded with the LORD on behalf of his wife, because she was unable to have children. The LORD answered Isaac's prayer, and Rebekah became pregnant with twins.
Hannah's prayers for a child were answered.
1 Samuel 1:27
I prayed for this child, and the LORD has granted me what I asked of him.
John the Baptist was conceived as the result of Zechariah's prayers.
Luke 1:1314
But the angel said to him, Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth.

In the Womb

During pregnancy believe God for a full term healthy pregnancy and delivery.
Psalms 139:13
For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother's womb.
Psalms 139:14
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.
Psalms 139:15
You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. [ see alsoJeremiah 1:5Luke 1:15, and Galatians 1:15]
Psalms 22:9-10
But You are He who took Me out of the womb. You made Me trust while on My mother's breasts. I was cast upon You from birth. From My mother's womb You have been My God [Psalms 22:9-10].
Isaiah 66:9
Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the LORD: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb? saith thy God.

  2. Dear Anonymous,

Thank you for sharing the prayer. I really like the part on "guide me in all my choices" because indeed the future is blurred because I don't know which direction to go.
